Study participants must meet the following initial requirements in order to be further evaluated for participation:

• Be 22-75 years of age
• Have been diagnosed with RA as an adult
• Have active moderate to severe RA, meaning they are experiencing pain, tenderness and/or swelling in at least 4 joints on both sides of their body
• Are not participating in any other clinical study
• Can undergo an implant procedure under general anesthesia to place the investigational vagus nerve stimulation device
